Women Stock Market

Women Stock Market!
How I relate stock market with ladies out there:

Most of the women's peak beauty shines in early 20's or late 10's till mid & late 20's.. That's when the stock market are going for a bull ride to the top, and reaches its peak.. Women at this peak, are attracted by many guys for her outer beauty..

As their age grow, their beautiness will drop as well. Stock market now will take a bear ride down. Of coz, there are certain times, the stock price will go up a little. That is the time where the ladies make some "stuff" on themselves (plastic surgery, botox, anti-aging cream, slimming programme, etc.). However, the stock market will eventually rebound, and goes down again, as the "stuff" they put in can't bear with the mighty aging process.

The stock market keeps going down till the company goes bankrupt. That's when the women's age is somewhere between the age of 50 to 60, where their menopause really paused. The hormone becomes unstable during the period, and the aging process speeds up! Wrinkles..white hairs..dry skins..osteoporosis all appear.

The company then dropped from public listed company to private company. The public are not attracted with the company anymore as its stock market always goes down. People are not attracted to the women anymore as they grow older and older and older. They were once so happy of themselves that every guys are attracted to them, but at this period, they are so lonely. A private company, Sdn Bhd.

Now...

Do you want your company to stay stable all the time and keep making profits...?
Do you women want to stay beautiful forever...?
Attracted by all people even in your 50's....?
Remain young forever..?

Now, instead of developing your outter beauty, develop your inner beauty!
If you have a heart of an Earth..
if you have the big metta aura around you..
if you have the love to all the people..
if you can still put a big smile on your face after a tough day..
if you are able to forgive people for their mistakes..

No matter how ugly or pretty you are outside,
you WILL be the most beautiful people in the world.
Just like blue-chip companies. Microfost, Apple, Nestle
Stable, making profits at times, and hardly can go bankrupt.
Young at heart, constantly making alot friends, and hardly pessimistic in life.

So girls out there, spend more time on reading books, listening audios on self-improvement, develop your mind, sharpen your mind, than time on your outer-self. Of coz, you still must spend some time on your outer beauty as impressions are important these days. I still respect girls who care about their outer-beauty, shows that they really care about themselves and want to look at their best. But if you girls want a long lasting beauty, it's the inner-self that matters.

No matter what, just be there

"You know what, just be there. No matter what. You'll never know what will happen to you, either positive or negative. So just be there!"

I was actually quite lazy to go to the temple last Friday for my Buddhist Introductory Course. My ass was "heavy" that I couldn't lift up from the chair. Going online sitting on the chair, surfing around the net, checking mails, checking out my friends' blogs, chatting with my friends. Man, you might be thinking, this guy has no life! Sitting in front of the computer doing this petty stuff that didn't benefit. Seriously, sometimes i do feel restless. Very very restless. Everything in my mind slows down and i don't have the mood to do just anything!

Then the thought above suddenly popped out in my head. You know, like, those lil devil me and lil angel me deciding for me what am i going to do. haha so

Angel me: Hey Kevin, what the hell are you doing. Sitting there and rotting yourself? Get you ass out of the chair and go out do some better stuff.
Devil me (muahaha): Oh, come on Kevin, chill and relax. Don't listen to that "donkey". He just wanted to disturb you from relaxing. Go on surfing the net. Nothing wrong with it.

Haha just making up stories anyway. So eventually i did follow what my Angel said, and went to the temple. I thought, oh well, i might be missing something if i didn't go there. And, yes, i did miss something if i really didn't go there. A friend.

Yup, a friend, that really "clicks". Chemistry you might say. Haha.

She's a lady in her early-20's, about 5'5 inches tall, looks studious to me (haha hopefully she won't happen to find my blog), a happy-go-lucky person, active in BBN (Buddhist Business Network), very keen in Buddhism, has trauma of jay-walking (crossing the road), dislike stock market, was (or maybe still is) workholic, a bright lady. Haha. We chatted that night till the sercurity guards of the temple "halau" us out for staying out so late, i think about 11.45pm, as they need to close the gate already (really there's nobody in the temple hall except two of us chit chatting there, haha).

Really glad to meet her, and i do look forward to meeting her again this Friday at the temple. :D
Went back home, with a big smile on my face. Haha. And yes, this will be my new added principle of life : No matter what, Just be there.

Higher Antioxidant Intakes Reduce Risk of Lung Cancer in Male Smokers

Research in the 1990's seemed to indicate that beta-carotene supplements may increase lung cancer risk in smokers. However, a new analysis of dietary records from one of these studies led researchers to a different conclusion. Male smokers with the highest overall antioxidant intake, including beta-carotene, actually had a reduced risk of lung cancer.

In observational studies, a high intake of individual antioxidants was related to increased lung cancer risk in male smokers. However, data from many experiments suggest that there are interactions among antioxidant nutrients; therefore, consideration of multiple antioxidants simultaneously may be important in terms of assessing risk. Yale University researchers evaluated dietary records of participants in the Alpha-Tocopherol, Beta-Carotene Cancer Prevention Study (ATBC). A group of over 27,000 Finnish male smokers aged 50-69 had food records analyzed along with intakes of carotenoids, flavonoids, vitamin E, selenium, and vitamin C. After evaluating the overall intake of antioxidants in this group, the conclusion differs somewhat from the original study. According to this new analysis, the men with higher overall intakes of antioxidants had lower relative risks of lung cancer, regardless of their assigned study group (beta-carotene or placebo). While researchers of the ATBC study concluded that high-dose beta-carotene supplementation may increase lung cancer risk in male smokers, these findings support the hypothesis that a combination of dietary antioxidants reduces lung cancer risk in men who smoke. Human's Greatest Fear...uh oh

No need to guess. Human's greatest fear is speaking in front of the public. They would rather sleep in a caskett than standing in front and give a speech of two to the public. And i would say that statement is rather true.

So far of my experience in speaking in front of the public, it's always not a good one. Always ended up with my face turning red (blood rushing). Whenever i speak in front, i often time focus on my grammar instead of the facts/story i want to convey. Well i want to give a speech that has no grammatically error, but i always ended up fumbling thru my speech. (E.g Ah..er..what's that word again)

Recently i just got joined in a Public Speaking course conducted by the Buddhist Gem Fellowship (BGF). When i got the email from the SJBA community about this Public Speaking course, I straight away asked my mom to let me join in. She didn't let me know whether she let or not, but what the heck, i just go to the post office and send my course fee of RM100 to the BGF. Of course i got the feeling of, should i join or should i not join? The mix feeling of wanting to improve in my communication skills, and the feeling of nervousness. Basically now i think that the nervousness is the tiny Little Me that wants to pull me in back into the comfort zone and wouldn't let me to try something new. On the other hand, the Big Me always encourage and push me to get out of my comfort zone and learn new stuff.

I always want to improve my communication skill. I join this course in the hope i'll get the confidence to talk to people, especially the people of all ages, not just the same age. I usually get intimidated by adult people and i would not speak naturally to them. I am afraid that i'll ask stupid questions and that will make me feel dumb. Fear of failure you should say.

Well, i'm proud of my Big Me overwhelming the Little Me that time, or not i'll be not joining that course and wouldn't make new friends there. Yup, proud of you Biggy.

JAMA Meta-analysis of Antioxidants - Flawed Data, Biased Analysis, and Inappropriate Conclusions

Recent news stories sensationalizing the results of a new controversial study reported in the February 28, 2007 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) imply that antioxidants do not have health benefits, and in fact, may lead to increased mortality. In our analysis of this study, we see little or no evidence to support this conclusion.

It is important to understand that this current study is not a new clinical trial, but a statistical analysis determined from many studies (called a meta- analysis). Meta-analysis studies are actually designed to pool similar studies for statistical comparison. However for this meta-analysis, the authors combined studies that differed vastly in design, use rates, duration, and study population. After careful review, it appears that the authors simply analyzed data that fit a predetermined conclusion, which is an invalid use of a statistical method. This is a great example of improper statistical use in research methodology. There is a large body of data including observational studies, prospective epidemiological studies and randomized clinical studies that have shown positive benefits of antioxidant supplementation (including reduced cardiovascular disease, some cancers, immune support and reduced progression of eye disease). Interestingly, these studies were excluded from the analysis. And while the initial analysis examined 1201 research papers from 815 trials, only 68 trials were actually used in the final analysis.
Furthermore, when the initial results from this data did not show any effect on death rates, the authors removed an additional 21 studies (called a sub analysis) to draw their conclusion that supplements increase risk of mortality. Interestingly, in these 47 remaining studies, the doses used greatly exceeded normal use rates, and in many cases, were well above tolerable upper intake limits (UL) (i.e. they used doses that may not be safe). In contrast, the studies eliminated from this study generally used doses that did not exceed the UL and were more in line with actual use rates.
Finally, the majority of the studies examined are secondary prevention studies. That is, the study populations had already been diagnosed with diseases such as heart disease and cancers. This is a very risky population to study, and conclusions from these studies should not be used to make recommendations for prevention in generally health populations. We are not the only ones who have criticized these results. Several scientific organizations and other researchers have already published criticisms of this paper. Professor Balz Frei director of the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University stated: "This is a flawed analysis of flawed data, and it does little to help us understand the real health effects of antioxidants, whether beneficial or otherwise. Instead of causing harm, the totality of the evidence indicates that antioxidants from foods or supplements have many health benefits, including reduced risk for cardiovascular disease, some types of cancer, eye disease and neurodegenerative disease. In addition, they are a key to an enhanced immune system and resistance to infection. The "meta-analysis" published in JAMA, which is a statistical analysis of previously published data, looked at 815 antioxidant trials but included only 68 of them in its analysis. And two of the studies excluded " which were published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute and the prominent British medical journal Lancet " found substantial benefits and reduced mortality from intake of antioxidant supplements." "If these two large studies had been included, none of the reported effects on increased mortality would have been significant, with the exception of the effects of beta carotene.
And the research showing a higher incidence of lung cancer in smokers who take supplements of beta carotene or vitamin A is old news, that's been known for many years. Very high doses of vitamin A are known to have multiple adverse health effects." "All the new study really demonstrates, is a bias toward identifying studies or research that show harm caused by antioxidants, and selective removal of research that shows benefits." We don't know why the authors chose to evaluate this small carefully selected group of studies, or why they ignored the larger body of evidence published on the benefits of antioxidants. But it appears to be an obvious attempt to sensationalize incomplete data that serves no purpose other than to alarm a large portion of the supplement using population. We are not fooled by this report. Furthermore, we will continue to provide our associates and customers with a wide array of antioxidants to be used as part of an overall comprehensive nutritional program.
