Semester break here I come!

Well, well, another semester break comes, and soon another study semester will be starting very soon. This 3-week sem break would be a precious and a educational one for me. But the thing is I can only spend time with my friends for that 1st week of that 3-week holiday. The 2nd and 3rd week, I'll be going to Taiping for my Buddhist "camp". Talk about a long 2-week camp huh? It is indeed long for a camp, because usually camp lasted for 3 days 2 nights, but this one is 14 days 13 nights. :) Then after that straight away commence my year 2 semester 1 studies.

I think I've done my final exam quite well, not to say extremely well to get 4.0GPA, but the thing was, I didn't stress myself so much compare to the last semester final exam. I didn't burn midnight oil one day before the exam (i only burnt 2 days or 3 days before). Some subjects like Quantitative Technique II and Economics, I've studied them long before even the final exam started. Still procrastinate, but procrastinate lesser than last semester. Now I finally understood the "beauty" of a non-procrastinating life. You'll feel damn relief that you've alraedy done the things you supposed to do. You can do the things you like afterthat, like reading, watching movie and stuff. I even went for swimming one day before my law exam and still not fearing that much about it. So my conclusion is, I'm confident that I'll score higher GPA than my last semester which was 3.1GPA.

Struggling for existence

Do you guys realize all of us are just struggling to exist? Hahah how silly but so true.. I would like to give credit to my teacher Bhante Punaji for giving such a wonderful quote "Stuggling for existence".

This is my version point of view in this matter.

Let's start it with this way from your birth till your death. When you were born out of your mother's womb, you cried out loud. For what reason? Reason is: you are going to live a life of uncertainty and will die for certain. You have an estimate life expectancy of 80 years old, and subject to sick, disease and old age. When you were an infant and adolescence, your mama and papa gave you food so you could be strong and healthy girl and boy. You cried out loud if you were not given anything to eat from your parents, knowing that if you didn't eat you would die.

When we grew up as a teenager, we study hard, we go college, we go university, we go for higher educations, all because of one reason, to exist. Because the higher our education background, the higher our income would be. We study because we want to find good paying job. Therefore we would think that we can have a better life. We would use our income to buy clothes, shelters and most importantly food in order to exist, knowing that if we didn't have these items we would die.

Then you would start to look for a partner. You need this so-called love to lead a happy life. Both of you and partner had sex and produced baby, and started a family. One day you realised that, you have to take care of your family and the income you are earning is not enough. So you work extra hard, overtime, to earn more income so that you can feed your children and wife, and of course your own stomach. We are struggling to exist.

You do this until you are 55 and retire. When you have gotten your Employee Providence Fund (EPF), you are excited that you have this lump sum of money to spend. According to EPF statistic, most retired people spent all of their funds in 3 years time. Then most of you all do not want to die, because you're only 58 years old. So you work again, part-time or full time. But your old age is catching up with you, you started to feel sick, have various kind of diseases. You go to look for doctor for medicine, so that you won't die.

Despite of old age, you still work, because you still want to feed your stomach. Until one fine day, you couldn't grasp the last breath and you die.

SOoooo... interesting facts of life heh? Every problems in our world are all rooted up to the problem of existing. Let's take examples:

1) We have tests, exams, assignment in our college. We struggle to read, burn the midnight oil. For what? So that we can score great grades. For what? So that we can get a degree. For what? So that we can get a good job. For what? So that we can get high income. For what? So that we can spend on food and shelters. For what? So that we can exist... All this leads to our survival in this piece of land called Earth.

2) We face difficulties in our work. Tonnes of workloads, office politic, arguments with boss. Despite of these, you still want to keep your job, because you want security. You need the income to exist...

3) Crimes has been an epidemic in our society. Why? Because the criminals need to survive! So they, steal, rob, break in. Criminals who rape, they need sexual gratifications. Criminals who kill, because they do not want to be killed so that they can exist!

Think about it... the struggling for existence... life is uncertain, death is certain.

Do you think you should do something far more important than this struggles?

Kudos :)

TIbet- China crisis

Haha, thanks for the comment Jannah! Hmm my opinion on Tibet-China crisis? Alright let me blurt out what i have in my mind.

First of all, we must see the reasons why these things are happening in Tibet. Why are these Tibetans having riots everywhere in Lhasa, and also the other parts of the world? The Chinese governement could not just use the act of violence to instill fear in Tibetans by killing so that the Tibetans will stop the riots. This will even create more riots and angers. The more it surpress, the higher it will bounce. Before the recent riots, there were also riots happening before, i think around the late 1980's.Tibetans people have been living in hell since chinese occupy its country. Tibetan are well known for their trantical Buddhism and their religious way of life. As for chinese people , mainly communist, they don't believe in religion. Once, Mao Ze Dong told the Dalai Lama "religion is poison".

Communist promised Tibet they would give religion freedom once it become part of the China. Look until today, many temples have destroyed, some even turned into bazaar market, monks have to do their prayers and chantings in the middle of the busy markets. Once Lhasa was a holy religous place, now it also has a red light district activity going on there. Where is this so-called religious freedom given to the Tibetans? More than 50 years they have been surpressed, until today. They use this opportunity of this Beijing olympic to tell their story, and how they have been suffering for a long time under this Chinese ruler. So this is my opinion, the underlying/bottomline/roots of this problem is that Tibetans are not given the religious freedom. Even in Malaysia, the news of destroying of 100-year-old kuil without due diligence and proper investigations, definitely it will create tension among the Hindus.

And another great example given by a writer in Malaysiakini,

Scott Thong Yu Yuen: "As our nation's leader warn against Malaysians holding protests against the Beijing Olympics, I feel compelled to ask a pertinent question - what if Thailand had sent its army and tanks into Malaysia and conquered the entire Peninsula? And then what if Bangkok were to host the 2020 Olympic Games?

Would Malaysians be all smiley and happy-happy about the Olympic Torch relay while our country remained occupied as a 'rightful province of historic Greater Siam'? Would our neighbours keep officially silent about the gradual replacement of Malaysian multi-culture with Thai customs and norms, just to stay on the good side of the Thai economic giant?"

Let's look at another point of view. As I've read in a Times Magazine, it says, China is a great marketing tool for Tibet. If it wasn't China, Tibetan Buddhism would not spread worldwide so quickly. Because of China, people around the world are aware of this religion of Tibetans and that's one of the reason that Buddhism grows in the western countries.

Another point of view from my dad as we were discussing last week. He told me The Dalai Lama is a "wolf in a sheep skin". I asked why do he said that? 1st reason: Because dalai lama is pro westerners. Dalai Lama supports western countries, and most western countries support him too. My dad said that these western countries are using him so that they can establish their base in Tibet when Tibet were to gain independent from China. 2nd reason: Because his face looks evil. I was like er....ok. Hello? looks can be deceiving. So I agree on what he say, that the westerner might be using him as a bait, but disagree on his face looks evil. Definitely a no-brainer reason. He said China is a developed country now and it isn't the same anymore like last time the communist people. It's a open market contry now. But when i asked why the Tibetans protest?

He couldn't answer me and blasted me with other facts about China this China that. Obviously influeced too much by this CCTV (a China-based news telecast in astro) and also Newspaper. I tell you these days we cannot trust on the main-stream medias. So much bias and the truth of a story is always hidden and kept away from the public. Even nowadays I don't read the Star papers that much, except for those entertainment part of coz la, haha. SO.. I told my dad, you cannot come out with the conclusion just based on these 2 medias. You've been missing out the biggest and also the most influential media: the Internet.

So, conclusion is, China please do something to fulfill your promise, Tibet please be patient, America please don't interfere.
